Bright Angel Trail Walking
The sun is just beginning to peak as we head down the Bright Angel Trail. This is the trail down to the Colorado River. The route is well marked but the rock, dust and dirt covering make steady walking difficult. Fortunately as it is hot I am carrying two water bottles. Yes, downhill is easy. Yuk, the almost eight miles down was relatively easy. Now the tough part, an all up hill return but still exciting. We survive and can forever say we have walked through the magnificent Grand Canyon.
There is a reward. The long walk is followed by a tourist raft trip down the Colorado River. On a dare I jump into the icy river. It is, well exhilarating, and an end to a perfect walking day.
