This is my first trip to South America. I have waited what seems to be a lifetime to arrive here. It helps to have been able to travel on a short trip starting in Puerto Rico where I reside. I came here first perhaps because I knew Columbianos in New York. Bogota is both modern and old. Now that I have a working knowledge of Spanish I am able to greet locals as I wobble by. Everyone is friendly. The sun shines as I race walk up the Plaza De Bolivar. I climb to the Iglesia De San Francisco. The city buildings are orderly and stately as I strategically avoid less desirable communities. Alas, I already regret staying here only two nights.
