This may well be the most spectacular lake in the Western Hemisphere. Giant, clean and even though I see occasional boaters, the lake seems so private, so Alaskan in remoteness, even though is is in the center of complicated Europe. I am fortunate to have a cheap, small, off season nearly lake side hotel in Lausanne. I marvel at this fantastic body of water as I wobble around it’s shore. But as a newcomer, here for a very short stay, I trot the roads close to the lake. They do not restrict my views. I envy the person in the Kayak making his way up lake as the sun . I ires for the day. I keep walking until she sets. But the next morning I am at it again. What greatness!
